The Wildlife Rescue Association of BC, based in Burnaby, is one of the busiest rehabilitation centres in Western Canada, providing care for thousands of injured, orphaned, and pollution-affected animals each year. Volunteers are essential to its mission and can contribute in many ways, from hands-on animal care in the hospital to public outreach and support services. Roles include preparing food, cleaning enclosures, helping with admissions, answering the wildlife helpline, and assisting with rescues and releases. Training is provided for all positions, making this an excellent opportunity for people who want to learn about local wildlife and be part of a dedicated, passionate team.
Beyond animal care, there are opportunities to support the organization through transport, gardening, maintenance, administrative tasks, and education programs. Some of these roles offer flexible hours or the chance to work remotely, making it possible for a wide range of volunteers to get involved. No matter the position, every volunteer directly contributes to wildlife protection and helps build stronger connections between people and the natural world.
